Learn how to address problematic nails with the right nail brace technique.

Ingrown, involuted and excessively curved nails can cause considerable discomfort for your clients. With orthonyxia, you learn how to use a nail brace to gradually guide and correct the growth and curvature of the natural nail.

During this practical training course, you will discover different nail bracing techniques. You will learn not only how to correctly apply a nail brace, but more importantly, how to select the right brace for the specific nail condition.

Because no two nails are the same!

What is orthonyxia?

Orthonyxia is a conservative technique in which a nail brace applies gentle tension to the nail. This can gradually reduce excessive curvature, relieve pressure on the surrounding nail folds and guide the nail towards a more natural shape.

What will you learn?

  • Different types of nail braces and bracing techniques
  • How to assess the nail and identify the problem
  • How to choose the appropriate brace for each situation
  • How to apply a nail brace correctly, step by step
  • Working with ingrown, curved and involuted nails
  • Recognising indications and contraindications
  • The importance of aftercare, monitoring and follow-up
  • Working towards a comfortable and long-lasting result

Why orthonyxia?

The aim is not only to reduce existing discomfort. With the appropriate technique, you can guide the natural growth of the nail and help prevent certain nail problems from repeatedly returning.

Orthonyxia can be used to:

  • reduce pressure and discomfort
  • gradually correct the shape of the nail
  • guide natural nail growth
  • help prevent recurring ingrown nails
  • reduce pressure on the nail folds
  • avoid more invasive treatment where possible

When is a nail brace suitable?

Orthonyxia can be used for conditions including ingrown nails, involuted nails, excessively curved nails and recurring nail problems.

You will also learn when a nail brace should not be applied, such as in cases of severe inflammation or infection, damaged or detached nails, insufficient nail material or an allergy to the materials used.

From theory to practice

We guide you through the complete process, from assessing and preparing the nail to selecting, applying and monitoring the appropriate brace.

This means you won't simply learn how to apply a nail brace — you'll understand why you choose one technique over another.

A valuable specialisation for foot care professionals who want to offer a more targeted approach to clients with problematic nails.

  • Course duration:8 hours
  • Number of participants: minimum 2 – maximum 4 participants
  • Level: advanced training – previous foot care knowledge required

Learn by doing
This advanced training course has a strong hands-on focus. We deliberately work in small groups of no more than 4 participants, allowing plenty of time for personal guidance, questions and practising the techniques in detail.
During part of the training, participants will practise on each other. In addition, each participant is required to bring 1 model, giving you the opportunity to apply the techniques in a realistic practical setting.

Starter kit
A specific starter kit containing the necessary professional products and/or materials is available for this training course.
The starter kit is not included in the course registration fee and must be purchased separately.
This ensures that you have the correct materials during the training and can continue practising and applying the technique in your own practice afterwards.

Invest in your expertise
Want to further distinguish yourself as a specialised foot care professional? Continuing to develop your skills and expertise can help you offer even more value to your clients.
This hands-on advanced training allows you to expand your professional knowledge and skills, provide more targeted solutions for your clients and strengthen your position as a specialised foot care professional.
And because we keep our groups small, you receive the personal attention and guidance you need to truly master the technique.
